Walter is doing amazingly well!! He is definitely treat motivated, and is incredibly smart. He is eager to learn and eager to please. We love him so much and are so grateful that is he home and well. He is still on antibiotics and is obviously still undergoing treatment for the mange, but as you can see, his fur and colors are starting to show. I just went back and looked at the video from the first week, i cried for so many reasons, but i cried mainly out of happiness and gratitude that this little life was saved!! It could not have happened without all of your support and love. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

Glad to hear that Walter is doing so well! I am a photographer that is working on a photo project involving dogs and I would love to include Walter. Please email me at 7thwheel@gmail.com for more details.
ReplyDeleteANXIOUS TO KNOW OF WHERE WALTER WILL END UP...
ReplyDeleteI am hoping you guys are keeping Walter - indefinitely? I would think so because there is a special bond here. Seeing the pics made me cry because it's heartwarming to see what love does. I hate how people can to be cruel, but I love people like you. Maybe it is true that without evil there can be no good. Whatever the case may be, this story touches my soul! I wanted to donate again but do not see the donate button anymore. Can we still donate? Please email me at angel1095@aol.com to let me know how / where I can contribute. Many blessings!
ReplyDeleteHow is the swelling in little Walters legs? He is looking great you can tell he is LOVED!

Thanks for checking up on him and for all your support through out his young life. We truly believe that it has made all the difference!
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR THIS POOR DOG IS UTTERLY AMAZING YOU SHOULD BE GIVEN A AWARD FOR IT. EVEN THOUGH JUST THE GIFT OF SUCH A WONDERFUL DOG IS REWARD ENOUGH BUT FOR WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING FOR OTHER ANIMALS IN WALTERS NAME IS TRULY A GOD SEND, FOR THERES ALOT OF ABUSED ANIMALS OUT THERE THAT THE ASPCA IS JUST BARELY KEEPING UP WITH IT, GOD BLESS YOU
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great story. I saw you on the news today and am encouraged by your kindness and generocity. His story reminds me of Ghandi, a pitty who was rescued in much the same condition by the shelter in Arkansas where we got our pit. Keep up the good work and I know Walter will be a wonderful ambassador for the breed!

I love your story & how Walter has been blessed with love! He is now a healthy young dog & will lead a happy life. Walter was brought into your life for a reason & you will forever be honored for helping & loving him.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get help for my little dog Tino, who has been diagnosed with Heart-worm - he is a beautiful little shih tzu with so much love & life in him! I am overwhelmed by his diagnosis. both emotionally & financially. I have started a "Tino-thon" event on facebook. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!!

Saw the peice on the Today Show featuring Walter today. What a lucky little puppy to have such wonderful people looking out for him. He has morphed into a beautiful dog who seems so grateful for everyone around him. Thanks to everyone who gave this deserving little guy a second lease on life, truly an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteGlad Walter is doing well, can't imagine how many cases like this there are out there, particularly for pitbulls who receive such negative press. I hope Walter (and his story) will help to promote the breed is a positie light, as his loving nture is NOT the exceptio to the breed, but rather a clear demonstration of how most pitbulls in loving families behave...the are the most resiliant, loving, and wonderful animals in the world! Love to Walter!
Hi, a great story! I'm with Wellness Natural Pet Food. Could you send me your contact info? chandaleary at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteThis is such a neat story! I just saw it on the Today show, so happy for you all and Walter.
ReplyDeleteMy husband found our baby Suzy abandoned in a parking lot next to his work. When we took her to the vet he could tell that she was just about 3 months old b/c she was losing her baby teeth. She was 25 lbs, underweight, emaciated, and her body was full of whip-worm (one of the worst and hardest worms to get rid of). We had a long battle to get all the worms out and keep them out (as soon as she was getting better, she'd get sick again). But finally the battle was done and she was healed and healthy.
Suzy is now 4 years old, 120 lbs, and healthy as ever. She LOVES everyone she meets and is very gentle around everyone especially children, babies and people in wheelchairs or with walkers.
We love her so much and she has enriched our lives.
Thank you for sharing your story. Abandoned animals are some of the biggest blessings. I really do believe that they know what happened before and are even more thankful when they find someone who will reach out and help them.
~Bethany and Suzy
What an incredible story. I have been moved to tears, as you have, for what Walter has gone through, and what you have done for him. Amazing. It is so wonderful to know that the milk of human kindness still flows, all over the world.

God bless you folks for lending your hearts to Walter! I happened to catch the interview that was posted on a friend's facebook page. I cried. Not just a little...and then I reposted it on my FB and on my blog! Walter is an inspiration and certainly a hero. I know he is forever grateful for you all saving him. Awesome dog. If you are ever in Florida, let me know. I can recommend some great dog-friendly spots. Take care.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI rescued a pit bull back in February. He was completely emaciated when he wandered up to me while I was standing on my front porch. We have
...gotten his weight up from 35lbs to nearly 60lbs. He was diagnosed with heartworm and we have been trying to get him healthy enough to undergo treatment. Unfortunately, the worms are wreaking havoc on his heart. and he needs a lot of TLC. Skeletor and I would appreciate it very much if you and Walter could help spread the word about his tale.

I saw you and Walter on the Today Show. I was so moved. God Bless you for this fantastic thing you did for this precious dog. He is so, so CUTE!! The love between you guys and Walter is so beautiful. Thank you so much for your kindness. You are such a GREAT example for this world.
ReplyDeleteHi - I have enjoyed reading about Walter and following his recovery. I am a rescued dog, too!
ReplyDeleteIf you have a chance, please check out my bloggie (http://www.pipinthegame.blogspot.com). I just gave you an award for being one of my favorite new friends/blogs.
Your pal, Pip
I am so glad to hear that Walter is doing great. His story is so inspiring! I blog for RichmondPetLovers.com, and I recently featured Walter's story here. I hope you don't mind, but I used a picture of Walter I found on this blog, along with credit and a link back to this blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for caring for this little guy!
I just came across your blog and Walter is SO lucky to have you guys! I hope he is still doing great.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy he is doing great. What you have done for Walter is amazing. He has been given a second chance to live an amazing life. He is representing pit bulls in a positive way. Pit bulls don't deserve all the bad rap they have been given. Animals need more protection against abuse and cruelty. My cats send all their love to Walter and his family.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! They should be more people like you out there!!
ReplyDeleteI still don't get how some people can be so cruel with animals....
Is there a follow-up story somewhere with pictures of the healed Walter? What an amazing story and what wonderful people you are to have helped him.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful story! This gives people hope!! This story even teched Holland!!!!! Great to hear Walter is doing zo great. :')
ReplyDeleteBest regards and a big hug for little Walter and hiss rescuer and new best friend.
- Jolien Berntsen
Wonderful story of cruelty, compassion and hope. Well done to you and the vets. A special well done to the critter himself.
ReplyDeleteI truely believe that anyone that owns a pet should sit a "care course" first ... then they know what is required ... and they must pass a test to get the animal.
How's Walter doing now?
How is he doing now? Any new pictures?
